Which Wadden Islands can you visit?

Ameland: beaches, nature and charming villages

Ameland is a diverse island with long sandy beaches, beautiful dunes and four picturesque villages. Rent a bicycle to explore the island, enjoy a walk along the beach or visit the famous lighthouse near Hollum. You'll also find plenty of restaurants, shops and welcoming terraces.

Ferries to Ameland depart from Holwert (Holwerd), with the regular crossing taking approximately 50 minutes. This makes Ameland an excellent destination for a day trip.

Schiermonnikoog: peace and unspoilt nature

Schiermonnikoog is the smallest inhabited Dutch Wadden Island and is known for its outstanding natural beauty. Most of the island is protected as a national park, with wide beaches, dunes, forests and a charming village.

As the island is largely car-free, it's perfect for exploring on foot or by bicycle. Ferries depart from Lauwersoog and take approximately 45 minutes to reach the island.

Discover Terschelling and Vlieland

Would you like to explore even more of the Wadden Islands? Ferries to Terschelling and Vlieland depart from Harlingen. Both islands offer beautiful scenery, sandy beaches and excellent walking and cycling opportunities. As the journey takes longer, an early departure is recommended if you're planning a day trip.
